Preparations continue to open the Arar border crossing with Saudi Arabia tomorrow, Wednesday, by the Ports and Customs Authority.

The director of the Arar border crossing, Brigadier Habib Kadhim Abdul-Ali, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Tuesday: “The port will start commercial activity and the passage of travelers tomorrow,” indicating that “preparations have been completed to open it and there are no obstacles, and the road between Arar-Karbala and Arar – Anbar has been secured.”

For his part, the director of Arar Customs Center, Amer Sajid Sweid, stated that "preparations have been completed for the opening of the Arar port," confirming that the customs transaction will proceed in cooperation with the Saudi side by handing over all the buildings and artifacts from a bridge scale and a detection yard, as well as a building to the customs administration.

He added that "the commission has started to put in place support equipment such as veterinary, health and others."

It is noteworthy that the Joint Operations Command confirmed earlier that all security measures had been completed to open the Arar border crossing.

Deputy Joint Operations Commander Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Al-Shammari said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Joint Operations Command has completed measures to secure the road towards Arar port with Saudi Arabia, and that the road from Arar port to Al-Nukhayb area, and from there towards Anbar province or The direction of the holy Karbala is fully secured 100%.”
