PHR: Recommendations on Freedom of Expression Law

The Parliamentary Human Rights Committee revealed its most prominent recommendations and proposals regarding the Freedom of Opinion, Expression and Peaceful Demonstration Law.

The head of the committee, Deputy Arshad al-Salihi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that his committee held several meetings with the supporting committees such as security, defense, legal, culture, media and others on the law on freedom of opinion, expression and peaceful protest.

He added that "some proposals were added to the law," noting that "the draft law stipulated taking permission from the government before organizing the demonstration, but the committee added a proposal to inform the head of the administrative unit represented by the governor about the date and place of the demonstration."
