The Joint Operations Command confirmed that all armed manifestations left the Sinjar district in Nineveh Governorate.
The spokesman for the Operations Command, Major General Tahseen Al-Khafaji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Thursday that "the agreement that was reached between the federal government and the regional government stipulated that the federal forces are the ones who will hold the land and impose security in the Sinjar district."
He added, "The local police are deployed inside the district, while the federal police forces and border guards are outside the district to hold the Iraqi-Syrian borders, stressing that all armed manifestations have left the district of Sinjar."
He explained, "There is a great effort made by the government and the leadership of the joint operations, in consultation with some groups of the Workers' Party, to create the conditions for the completion of the agreement between the two sides, pointing out that the Nineveh Operations Command is the one who manages the security file in Sinjar and other areas in the province."
He pointed out that "there is joint coordination between the Joint Operations Command and the Peshmerga forces to impose security in those areas."
