Thwarting an attempt to smuggle drugs by airdrops in Maysan

The Rapid Response squad carried out today, Saturday a landing of frogmen deep into the marshes in Maysan Governorate, to target drug traffickers.

A statement to the squad’s media received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that “based on intelligence information and under the supervision of the Joint Operations Command, the heroes of the Rapid Response squad carried out the support of the army aviation heroes, a landing of the frogmen in the depth of the eastern marshes of Maysan Governorate (Hor Umm Al Naaj).

The statement added that "the landing operation was accompanied by a force moving by boats on targets used by smugglers from drug traffickers," noting that "100 kilograms of drugs were found, which were planned to be brought in and smuggled through the city center of Amarah."
