The national carrier resumes direct flights to Europe

The General Company for Iraqi Airways, one of the formations of the Ministry of Transport, announced today, Tuesday, the resumption of direct flights to Europe after a hiatus that lasted for several months due to the Corona pandemic.

The general manager of the company, Kifah Hassan, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "according to the direction of the Minister of Transport, Nasser Al-Shibli, the first flights were operated this morning from Baghdad International Airport through Erbil Airport," noting that "the flight then headed to Dusseldorf International Airport, Germany, within the times specified on the airline's flight schedule.

He added, "The company was keen during the implementation of the trip to implement all instructions issued by the higher authorities related to health and preventive measures in accordance with the health protocols adopted in Iraq and the world."

He pointed out that "the General Company for Iraqi Airways will conduct other flights to several destinations from the European continent on a regular basis, including Berlin, London, Frankfurt, and Copenhagen."
