Salih stresses to Tueller: The importance of easing tensions in the region

The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, assured the US Ambassador to Iraq Matthew Tueller the importance of easing tensions in the region.

The Media Office of the Presidency of the Republic said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received today at the Baghdad Palace, the American Ambassador to Iraq, Matthew Tueller," noting that "during the meeting, the close and various bilateral relations were discussed. Aspects of joint cooperation between the two countries, and means of developing cooperation horizons in the context of strategic dialogue, leading to a strategic partnership in various fields that serves mutual interests and brings peace and benefit to the two peoples and the entire region.

He added, "Salih stressed the need to continue coordination to combat the remnants of terrorism, and to consolidate the state’s authority to enforce the law and respect its sovereignty, stressing at the same time the importance of easing tensions in the region and not involving the country in the conflicts of others."
