Mulla Talal: The government is committed to paying the late salaries

Prime Minister spokesman Ahmed Mulla Talal confirmed, today, Tuesday, that the government is committed to paying back salaries, while indicating that Al-Kadhmi is in contact with political blocs in order to pass the borrowing law quickly.

Mulla Talal said during the weekly cabinet conference, which was attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the government is committed to paying the late salaries to employees," pointing out that "Al-Kadhmi instructed the Ministry of Finance to find a quick solution to pay the salaries of retirees and social care."

He added, "Al-Kadhmi has been in contact with the political blocs and Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi a few days ago in order to pass the borrowing law quickly."Regarding the events that accompanied the demonstrations in Basra, Mullah Talal commented, "The government committed itself to protecting peaceful demonstrators and preserving their constitutional right to demonstrate."

And he indicated that "the shooting in the air in Basra is contrary to the orders of the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kadhmi, as the perpetrator of the shooting in the air during the demonstrations in Basra and it was referred for investigation."

Mulla Talal also denied "the government signed an agreement with Egypt under the oil-for-reconstruction clause," noting that "signing protocols of understanding with Egypt is a result of the decisions of the tripartite summit, as Egyptian companies will implement important projects in the country."

He continued, "The Council of Ministers discussed the Faw Grand Port project, and Al-Kadhmi directed the Ministry of Transport to expedite the implementation of the project." pointing out that "the large Faw port project will make Basra Governorate an important global port."

With regard to the date of the start of the new school year, Mulla Talal asserted that “the topic of the start of the new school year was referred to the Health and Safety Committee to determine the working hours,” indicating that “the Minister of Health presented a full report on the Corona pandemic and the challenges facing the ministry.”

Mulla Talal added, "The Council of Ministers decided to cancel some of the interest on loans granted to contractors who did not receive their dues from the government, while the Council approved recommendations regarding the security camera system in Baghdad."

He pointed out that "the white paper is a plan to restructure the Iraqi economy," explaining that "the Ministry of Finance has confirmed securing job grades for those covered by the medical graduation law in the 2021 budget."
