Al-Sistani's office denies the signing of a document in the Pope's meeting

Baghdad – INA

An official source in the office of the Supreme Religious Authority, Ali al-Sistani, denied today, Tuesday, the statements regarding the signing of a document during Pope Francis' meeting with Sistani.

The source told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "What was stated in the statements of the Iraqi ambassador to the Vatican and some others about the course of the visit scheduled for His Holiness the Pope to Najaf is inaccurate."

He added that "there was no discussion with the papal embassy in Baghdad – which coordinated the visit – regarding the signing of any document in the Pope's meeting with Al-Sistani."
