The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi received today, Sunday, Metja Scoffer, the Vatican ambassador in Baghdad, and during the meeting discussed arrangements for the scheduled visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Iraq this month. pointing out that “Al- Kadhimi affirmed that the visit of His Holiness the Pope will contribute to consolidating stability and spreading the spirit of brotherhood in Iraq and throughout the region, and that His Holiness’s efforts are well-known around the world in limiting conflicts, giving priority to wisdom and reason and raising the value of people above all political interests Conflicts and wars.”
Al- Kadhimi said, according to the statement, that "Iraq, the government and people of all sects and mutually supportive colors, look with welcome and reverence to this honorable visit, and they magnify the efforts of His Holiness in supporting the right causes, confronting extremism and spreading the spirit of tolerance in all humanity."
