AFC: Iraqi forces are able to work alone

The Australian force commander and deputy operations commander for training, General Jansen, confirmed today, Sunday, that Iraqi forces are capable of operating alone.

Jansen added to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Iraqi security forces are able to work in the field and train," noting that "today, the Taji camp was completely handed over to the Iraqi forces."

He added, "We had the honor to work side by side with the Iraqi security forces," noting that "Iraqi forces no longer need the coalition forces in the field."

For his part, Commander of the Special Forces class, Brigadier Ali Abdul Wahid, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Sunday, that "Taji base is one of the most important military bases occupied by the Iraqi army and there are many units in it."And the Joint Operations Command announced that it had received the 8th position in Camp Taji from the international coalition forces.

The spokesman for the joint operations, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the international coalition forces today handed over the site No. 8 in the Taji camp to the Iraqi forces."

"The site was used to train, equip and rehabilitate Iraqi cadres by Australian, New Zealand and American forces," Al-Khafaji said, noting that "the site will be allocated to the Iraqi security forces for its use."He added, "After the completion of the mission of the International Coalition Forces, Site No. 8 was handed over to the Iraqi forces in the presence of the representative of the Prime Minister, who in a session signed the receipt and handover report."
