The Ministry of Commerce confirmed that it has relied on the national product since 2016.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Trade, Muhammad Hanoun, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "The purchase of the local product is not done by means of payment on time or by a method, but rather depends on the sums allocated to the ministry," stressing that "the ministry aspires to open a new door to the process of securing the ration card items from During the purchase on credit, through assurances provided by the Ministry of Finance.”

He added, "The ministry depends on the financial allocation for it within the general budget, and that it has suffered over recent years from major problems due to the instability of disbursing the ministry's dues from the ration card."

Hanoun explained, "The Ministry of Trade has relied on the national product since 2016 to buy materials such as sugar, edible oil, local rice and local wheat marketed from the farmer," stressing that "the national product does not mean that the ministry makes a contract without allocating money as it is necessary to purchase the four basic materials from Oil, rice, flour and sugar, and that the contract to purchase these materials requires financial allocations.”
