The government crisis cell raised a proposal to prevent gatherings as New Year's Day approaches.

A statement by the Ministry of Health and Environment received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "Minister of Health Hassan Al-Tamimi chaired the meeting of the Diwani Order (217) for the year 2020, in the presence of its members and medical officials in the Ministries of Defense and Interior and the Medical Directorate of the Popular Mobilization Authority."

The statement added that "during the meeting, the measures taken in the world to close airports and others due to the new strain were reviewed and discussed," noting that "despite Iraq achieving a record increase in the rates of recovery, preparation of examinations, and a decrease in death and injury rates, the Supreme Committee for Health and Safety was recommended. Patriotism has taken several measures related to the issue. "

He continued that "the issue of contracting agreements with Pfizer to supply the vaccine early next year, as well as communication with other manufacturers to supply the vaccine through the International Vaccine Alliance, and the details of importing into Iraq, storage and distribution," noting that "the committee suggested that there be several Procedures coinciding with the approaching New Year's Eve holidays, and were referred to the Supreme Committee for Health and National Safety, and emphasis was placed on preventing gatherings and punishing those who organize celebrations and close them according to the law.
