MOI: The leaders of the movement confirmed the peaceful demonstrations

The Ministry of Interior confirmed the development of plans to protect the demonstrators, public and private facilities, while noting that the leaders of the movement affirmed that the demonstrations were peaceful.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Major General Khaled Al-Muhanna, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Sunday: "There are expectations that the demonstrations on the first anniversary of the October uprising will be peaceful according to the contacts that took place with the leaders of the movement and activists."

He indicated that plans are being put in place to protect the demonstrators and important facilities and not allow any attempt to limit the freedom of the citizen

He added, "The Minister of Interior, Othman Al-Ghanimi, supervised the restructuring of the law-keeping apparatus, providing logistical support to it, and assigning high-ranking officers to lead the authorities."

He pointed to the importance of checking and educating citizens and not allowing any attempt to divert the demonstrations from their peacefulness, stressing that the government has implemented many reforms demanded by the demonstrators and is going ahead with that.

The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, called on the demonstrators not to demonstrate outside Tahrir Square in Baghdad.

Rasoul also said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) earlier today, Sunday: "We call on our protesters not to demonstrate outside Tahrir Square in Baghdad, as it is fully secured."

During the statement, Rasoul called on the demonstrators to "cooperate with the security services and report any negative or suspicious case and not allow some of those claiming to belong to the demonstrators to attack the security forces present to protect them, they are the people of their country."
